I was hankering after a 9" raspberry tart after seeing Michelle and Julien's strawberry/raspberry one from last week, and had decided that I'd make one this weekend. Even though I'd made the resolution, I kind of forgot about it until Friday night when I went to Central Market and found that they had organic raspberries on sale! Raspberries purchased, tart eminent.
I was a little short on time today (was going to the Symphony!), so instead of opting for the creme patisserie (even though I did call Michelle et Julien to get their recipe), I chose to go a simpler route: mascarpone cream. I chalk it up to wanting to try something new, and that I'd found an awesome story at NPR with a recipe for it.
I have often felt the way the author does,
I have the means to fake a more perfect life. My secret summer weapon: fruit tarts. They are gorgeous and taste even better; they have the "wow" factor I want in an escapist dessert fantasy. And best of all, they're deceptively easy.
So here's my "wow" photo, and may I also emphasize that in addition to being "reasonably" easy, they're also delicious.

Looks tasty !! (the tart not the cat ;). You could also have said that I gave you the recipe for creme patissiere in metric units and you didn't feel like converting it :).
oh my goodness. I am hungry now
Beautiful! Although you know what I'll make Julien put in the next photo :)
What recipe did you use for the crust?
Wow! Looks gorgeous!
