oscars baking club: grapefruit curd tarts.

grapefruit curd tarts.

I had a dream last night where I made fruit tarts for an Oscars party that I was going to, with all these awesome fruits that I happened to have in my house. When I woke up I realized that the only fruit I had was a bunch of grapes and two grapefruit. Turns out, you can actually make a pretty awesome curd tart with two grapefruit. Grapefruits? (Both, apparently.)

Unfortunately (as you can see in the upper left hand side of the picture), I didn't let the curd chill long enough and it kind of escaped on the drive over to the party. A little messy, but still pretty tasty.

Also, I threw away my ratty old rolling pin in my recent move, and realized this fact about 20 minutes before the dough needed to be rolled out. Makeshift rolling pin acquired!

I was using our "water bottle" == old wine bottle with the label removed for months before we got around to the store to buy a real rolling pin. I learned that it's advantageous not to use the bottle from the fridge. Condensation increases sticking :-p

These look delicious!

Yep, I pulled a can out from the cupboard, rather than the fridge. :)
